BEHIND THE LENS

My name is Emily Smith. I was born and raised here in Ridgecrest. Yes, I am a true desert girl. It's funny, I hear people talk about the beauty of the desert all the time, but for me , I find the beauty in the people.

 

I have been doing photography for about 10 years now. It started when my best friend had her first baby. We must of taken 20 rolls of film on her before she was even 6 months old. I thought I must of had beginners luck or something, because we got some really great shots, come to find out she was just a really good baby. But I knew after that, that was what I wanted to do. So I've spent the last 10 years pursuing a career in photography.

 

I find my inspiration in Psalms 139:14. It says "I am fearfully and wonderfully made." There is a beauty inside of everybody. My job is to capture that beauty in a photograph that will last for generations to come.
